Today we have Karl Johnson in the store hand-cutting Silhouette Portraits! We have a few walk-in spots available from noon-2pm. His work is amazing and it only takes 5 minutes! All the details are on our Events page.

Ever have one of those days where it just seems like every time something starts to go right it ends up going wrong? You know the type of day, you wear your favorite sweater for extra confidence, but you spill tea down the front of it, which comes out with a little scrubbing in the bathroom sink, but when you go to leave you accidentally drop your keys into the bathroom trash can… and the whole day seems like it’ll just keep going like that. Well, this is an excellent book to remind you that “fortunately” things usually find a way of working out for the best. Thanks to Zena for sharing this review!

Fortunately by Remy Charlip, Ages 3 - 7

Fortunately, by Remy Charlip, is a colorful book about opportunities and obstacles. “Fortunately one day, Ned got a letter that said, ‘Please come to a Surprise Party.’ But unfortunately the party was in Florida and he was in New York.” Throughout the book, we see how Ned’s problems are solved one by one. Even though some of the solutions create further trouble, a combination of fate and Ned’s talents should get him to the party in one piece! Fun for ages 3-7.

Hello!

Did you know this week is Screen Free Week? From April 30 – May 6 families, children and communities across the US pledge to turn off screen media, unplug and start living in a new way. Without screens in front of our faces there’s lots of time for play, reading, daydreaming, writing, drawing and more. Over the next 5 days we’ll be sharing a new “screen free” entertainment every morning!

And, to cap off Screen Free Week, we’re having an “April Showers Bring May Flowers” event this Saturday from 10am-12pm!!! Decorate a Pot, Plant a Flower and Take it Home! Limited to the first 100 customers. All Ages! Free!
